Getting Started

 Dock Sections

Getting started on your new Tommy Docks dock project is fast and easy. To ensure a smooth and trouble free dock installation, please complete the five easy steps outlined below before purchasing Tommy Docks components.

First:
What is the ideal layout for your new dream dock? This is the fun part. You can pick from one of our standard dock system layouts or design your very own dock innovation.

Second:

Choose either the normal duty or heavy duty dock post mounting system components. Only Tommy Docks offers a choice of components for both normal and extreme water conditions. Use the heavy duty diameter dock post mounting system components if the installation site includes:

  • Strong currents or winds
  • Docking larger boats
  • Heavy boat activity
  • Water depth over 8‛

Third:
Determine the size and number of the wood dock sections that are needed for your dream dock layout. The dock sections are generally 4‛ X 8‛ or 4‛ X 10‛ in size. You can order wood dock sections from Tommy Docks or you can build your own dock sections using our simple-to-follow plans.

To purchase the dock sections, call our Customer Service Department at (866) 675-1880 to place your order. These items cannot be shipped by small parcel carriers and require alternate shipping arrangements.

The dock post mounting system components includes the following:

  • Dock post brackets
  • Footpads (Std. 8" round, 14" square Muck Pad, or Auger Foot)
  • Safety caps
  • Dock posts

*Dock posts over 8‛ in length are not available at the on-line store at this time. You can purchase these items by calling our Customer Service Department at (866) 675-1880 to place your order. These items cannot be shipped by small parcel carriers and require alternate shipping arrangements.

Fourth:
Establish the correct dock post length for each bracket location. The schematic shown below should be used as a guide to determine the appropriate dock post lengths.

Fifth:
Select Tommy Docks accessory products to enhance the enjoyment of your new Tommy Docks dream dock. How about a chair or bench to kick back and relax in? What about bumpers to protect watercraft from incidental contact with the dock? Or a folding dock cleat to tie up your watercraft?
